For some time now I have become more aware of what I put on my skin. I have started using simpler products to cleanse my face and have noticed the amazing results. I soon decided I wanted to switch to completely organic beauty products to not only improve the health of my skin but also improve the health of my body since what is put on the skin is absorbed into the body. What I have found is that transitioning to completely organic beauty products is a lot easier said, then done. There have been a few speed bumps as I tried to transition to organic beauty products.
One of the main issues I have noticed is just how expensive organic beauty products are. I am a broke college student so I don’t have a lot of money to spend on make-up in the first place. I know that it’s worth it and I know a lot of organic make-up is more expensive because they use better ingredients but #thestruggleisreal! I have found Shea Moisturize as a cheaper organic make up brand and I love the quality of the product but I do need some variety in my makeup I don’t want to only use one brand for everything.
DIY Makeup is not for me. I know that making your own makeup has become popular in the organic beauty community but it does not work for me. Maybe its just laziness or the fear of the makeup being crappy and wasting my money on all the supplies. Whatever it is I am just not interested in making my own makeup I’d rather give my money to the professionals.
Another issue I have struggled with is finding out what really qualifies as organic. I have a post for some ways to help spot Organic makeup products but there is so much disagreement online it can be very difficult. For example some say that bare minerals eye shadows are organic. Which is great because I own quit a bit. Then I read all mineral makeup is organic! Great! Then I read that it is not organic but just natural. Then I heard it is neither natural or organic! When will the truth come out?!
Despite this I am still transitioning to organic makeup but it has not been easy. I am saving up for higher quality organic makeup and I will keep you guys updated on my journey.
