Fallen Crest: Book Review

Ever since giving up Netflix I have been in the search for some good books to fill up my time. Little did I know that I would come across a amazing book and I would read the whole series within days. So let me tell you about  Fallen Crest by Tijan. I came across the Fallen Crest Series after reading the book Anti-Stepbrother also by Tijan. I enjoyed Anti-Stepbrother so much I thought I would explore what else Tijan has written.

So let me give you a overview of what Fallen Crest High(The first book) is really about.

A young girl named Sam comes home one day to find out her Mother has had a affair with her father and they were moving into the other man’s home. The other man happens to be James Kade a very wealthy business man and very well known in Fallen Crest. He has two sons named Mason and Logan who are also like legends in their small town. They are the best on the football team and very wealthy. Sam attends Fallen Crest Academy and Mason and Logan attend Fallen Crest High. Sam is going through a pretty tough time her parents are going through a divorce, her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her best friend and her world is pretty much turned upside down. She wants nothing to do with the Kades because Fallen Crest Academy and Fallen Crest Public are rivals and she doesn’t know how her classmates would respond. I don’t want to give too much away and a lot happens in the first book but this is the jest of it.

Why I Loved It

What I really loved about this book is the character development. If I am being completely honest the first book in the series was not my favorite I was not a big fan of the writing style and all the high school drama was almost too much. The characters are what kept me reading. Do not give up! You have to read the next book I promise the writing gets better and the story line isn’t so overwhelming. Mason Kade is my favorite character by far and he is a little hard to figure out especially in the beginning of the book. He is the mysterious bad boy and the brother Logan Kade is the social butterfly. Sam the main character is also not your typical damsel in distress she speaks her mind and she has a back bone.

All in all I think this is great series and if you are interested in YA novels and looking for something to read over winter break this is great pick.
