If you have read my previous post on Mindfulness then you know just how important I feel it is to practice mindfulness every day. What I want to talk about in this post is just how important it is to practice mindfulness during the holiday season. The holidays are often surrounded by family and friends and being thankful so being mindful is of utmost importance during this time. Besides how much time do we really spend during the rest of the year enjoying our families company? I don’t just mean the people that live in your household I mean distance relative and family you don’t see on a daily basis.
Put Down Your Cellphone
Stop answering emails and working on the go instead create time restriction. I know this can be difficult when you work from your laptop or cellphone but it is so important to take a break from it and enjoy your company. Plus when you do go back to work after Christmas you will feel rejuvenated. Christmas can be like a vacation from work so take advantage of it.
I am a sucker for traditions around Christmas time. For me I think it is so much easier to practice mindfulness when your doing things such as baking holiday cookies or going to watch christmas lights. Doing things that put you in the holiday spirit really help me with staying mindful and being aware of the holiday season.
I know this is a short post but I just wanted to give you guys a quick reminder of why it is so important to practice mindfulness even when your in-laws might be driving you crazy.
